We are also expanding to weeknight practices as well: <b>Tues/Thursdays 6:00 pm meet for a 6:15 start.</b> Those weeknight paddle times will change as soon as we have more light
in the evening but, for the month of April, that will be our schedule. Team members are not required to be at every practice but know that you make the
most improvements the more regularly you are on the water. It is
very important that you register for your seat in the boat for each
practice you hope to attend. We use an on-line tool called<b> Doodle</b>. The doodle is being used to prepare the right amount of steers people
and boats. If you want to invite a guest you can add your name with the
word (guest) behind it. Guests will need to fill out a <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rFIZysQQROUJ-c9xAY2n5_MdFyJoAZxw/view" target="_blank"><b>waiver</b></a> as you all have done. The Doodle link is here: <a data-auth="NotApplicable" data-linkindex="0" href="https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/rb2KR7vd" id="LPlnk895109" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" style="background-color: #fdfdfd; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration: underline; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;" target="_blank">https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/rb2KR7vd</a> </span></span></span></span></div><div><div style="clear: both;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><br aria-hidden="true" /></span></span></div></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">As
you may know brand new paddlers have 3 free paddles in the boat to see
if this is sport a fit for you. After that you will need to decide if
you want to continue. <b>The club membership is $150.00</b> in the form of a cheque (made out to Sudden Impact Paddling Club) or an e-transfer. We can give you more info about that...just ask! You will also need to complete a <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/115qrcCh1ybL2DFCJZYWfPC4vBOp-9nEI/view" target="_blank"><b>membership form</b></a>
(for insurance purposes). There may be team fees
assessed (generally to cover the cost of coaching) at a later date but
until we know the number of new and returning paddlers we don't know
what our teams will be. It is most likely that we will at least have a
women's team and a mixed team. Stay tuned for more info about that.</span></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br aria-hidden="true" /></span></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">Our club has an arrangement with the Cultus Lake Park Board to purchase a 6 month <b>parking pass for$50.00</b>
that gets us parking in several of the lots before 10 am on Saturdays
and after 6 pm on weekdays. If you have paid to park in the last 2
weeks, you know that $50.00 is a steal! In order to get a pass, our
club will be submitting a list of names to the Park Board. Then you
will phone in and give them your license plate and credit card info. It
is $50.00 per card so if you plan to drive more than 1 car to the lake,
your cost will be double. <b>Let us know if you want to be on that list</b>! </span></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br aria-hidden="true" /></span></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">Finally, most of the costs for regattas that teams decide to compete in are covered by <b>parking fundraisers</b>
we do in conjunction with Heritage Park. We do them early in the
season before our paddling season gets too full with, well, paddling
fun! Our last fundraiser is the weekend of <b>April 29, 30 and May 1st</b>. New paddlers are encouraged to take part in this. A schedule will be
put out to the club and you get to decide which shift or shifts
(generally 3 hours long) you can do. These are easy, a great source of
income for us and a fun way to get to know your club mates off the
water!</span></span></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><br aria-hidden="true" /></span></span></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><span><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="background-color: #fdfdfd; display: inline; float: none; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">We
are looking forward to building our club even better after Covid left
us high and dry. There is a seat in the boat just for you here and we look forward to working together to accomplish great things this year

<br />
Official Body-for-LIFE Cardio-Training Plan
Cardio workouts are indispensable to an effective training program and general good health. By definition, cardio workouts can be any exercise—jogging, running, biking, swimming, elliptical machine, stairs, even jumping rope—that raises and maintains your heart rate over a predetermined amount of time. By doing so, you strengthen your heart and lungs and lower your resting heart rate, which means that over time the same effort that produced a 10-minute mile will produce a 9-minute mile. Cardio workouts burn fat. And cardio fitness is what gives you endurance and the ability to persist in sports and in life.
<strong>The Benefits of Cardio</strong>
<br />
<ul class="exercise" style="margin-left: 0px; padding-left: 18px;">
<li>Increases metabolic rate</li>
<li>Increases growth hormone secretion</li>
<li>Reduces stress levels</li>
<li>Increases blood flow to the brain increasing alertness</li>
<li>Improve cholesterol levels</li>
<li>Improves digestion</li>
<li>Boosts immune-system function</li>
</ul>

We talked about the team and found ourselves on the same page with the same vision for the team. Jenn brings a wealth of experience to us as one of Chilliwack’s most celebrated athletes (competitive swimmer), coaches and fitness trainers. She is a humble leader, but you can read about her success in competition at the Cheam Centre - both inside and out. I am thrilled to work alongside of her for the success of this team.</span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>

I am appreciative for the club who provide us with our equipment, mooring, insurance and collaboration. Many of the coaches at the clinic did not have this support and were handling these areas in addition to coaching.</span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>

This group has evolved over the years to enable us to have the funds to be sustainable year to year - and to provide vision for new initiatives and adventures. They also provide the backbone of team communication, planning and administration to ensure a successful year. Thank you, executive, for serving the Water Warriors in this way in the 2014 season.</span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">

It’s the same reason that I joined the team in the first place - I want to find another level of capacity and ability within myself that not only gives me increased confidence and skills for my greater life, but also gives me tremendous personal fulfillment. </span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I am fiercely loyal to the Water Warriors team. 2014 is the ninth year that I will wear the yellow jersey - and I wear it with pride. The Water Warriors are unique. Our team was not formed like the breast cancer survivor teams from the shared pain of cancer - nor was it formed from the competitive drive of athletes seeking challenge. Our team was formed by regular women living regular lives whose desire was to find a way to share their lives, empower each other, challenge themselves and succeed in their efforts. Regular, everyday women banded together and used this sport for holistic gains in their lives. Today, 13 years later, we come together, again, to engage the power of “team” to enhance our lives and give ourselves the gifts of friendship, achievement, morale, perspective, fitness, relaxation, support and all the other riches that we can only access through a group of women unified in one purpose. </span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">In the coaching clinic, I learned about the thrilling parts of coaching - the times when a coach feels their efforts are fulfilled - seeing the excitement in the eyes of an athlete who finally “gets it” in their skills; watching a team celebrate a race well-done and seeing confidence, enthusiasm and life-perspective grow in individuals. We also learned of the heartbreak of a coach - choosing who will sit out of a final race when there are too many on the team; watching a team fall apart as they pass blame, being misunderstood for decisions or to facing an emergency situation.</span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.15; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I am expecting more thrills than heartbreaks with the Water Warriors in 2014. As this is a team sport, the overall success is measured by team results. My highest priority is the team effort, team unity and team success. It is through individual challenge that we each make gains in strength, endurance, flexibility, technique and overall fitness - but, it is through team synchronicity that we make our gains in our strong starts, powerful middles and incredible finishes. It is only by team togetherness that we can hang a medal around our necks once again. </span></div>
<b style="font-weight: normal;"><br /><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></b>

The first thing I’m asking you to do as you enter the 2014 season is to consider how </span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">your individual effort</span><span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> can contribute to this team results in the coming year. </span></div>

What a beautiful venue! And to have the race course half the length as a regular race was <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">definitely</span> a nice bonus!<br /><br />Carey came out and steered her first races! <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Unfortunately</span>, the only race we have photos of, is the one when the boat got away from us! Poor Carey..we practice on a different type of boat that's heavier and much easier to steer, and to be thrown into a lighter boat with a more unstable steering oar, things happen!<a href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RymIe6NI/AAAAAAAABV4/jKp1YaNYqnQ/s1600-h/Deep+Cove+174.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196680949703567570" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RymIe6NI/AAAAAAAABV4/jKp1YaNYqnQ/s400/Deep+Cove+174.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />And here's where things happened! Poor Shelly got to practice the "ejection seat" drill when we t-boned another boat at a high speed! Looking back on it now, we are able to laugh at the whole thing!<a href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RzGIe6OI/AAAAAAAABWA/bKB-zPa9qHI/s1600-h/Deep+Cove+176a.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196680958293502178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RzGIe6OI/AAAAAAAABWA/bKB-zPa9qHI/s400/Deep+Cove+176a.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Here's our lovely coach, fresh outta the water, nice and soaked! And we had 2 more races back to back after that! In the end, we placed 1st in our division, and were 1 of only 2 women's teams to get a time under 1 min.! Go Warriors! We always come through in the end!<a href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RzWIe6PI/AAAAAAAABWI/cIrA1lXMRAw/s1600-h/Deep+Cove+247.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196680962588469490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/SB5RzWIe6PI/AAAAAAAABWI/cIrA1lXMRAw/s400/Deep+Cove+247.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13792245.post-69684105391621524782007-09-19T02:16:00.000-07:002007-09-19T02:28:36.725-07:00Kelowna Regatta 2007The Water Warriors headed to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Kelowna</span> for the final regatta of the season and made some long lasting memories! Tough competition pushed us to really give all we had..and we did! We placed 4<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">th</span> in the top division (Platinum A) and had some very brag worthy times! In the afternoon on Sat., we had an awesome 2:18!! Unbelievable! So proud of ourselves! This picture was taken during the final race, and as you can tell, the conditions of the water was less than desirable, to say the least. Races were postponed 2 hours to wait out the 2 foot swells. Of course, the women were the g<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">uinea</span> pigs and sent to try out the new 250m course (from 500m) and showed the mixed teams how it's done! The finals were only raced by the women, and during our final, I was told that the conditions were at it's most dangerous. After we were done, the event organizers cancelled the rest of the races. Guess the boys couldn't hack it..<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">haha</span><a href="http://bp1.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/RvDp8sjJodI/AAAAAAAAAo0/hIoREdryJdI/s1600-h/Kelowna+2007b+170.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5111842806025527762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_OZEQtfqs6Oc/RvDp8sjJodI/AAAAAAAAAo0/hIoREdryJdI/s400/Kelowna+2007b+170.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />On Sat. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">nite</span>, we had a "Purple Party" at the hotel on the lawn in the back by the lake, to honor our wonderful and amazing coach! It was a surprise to her, so when we all showed up dressing like purple fools, she felt a bit out of place! We took care of it, and dressed her up in purple! HA Go figure, the one time we EXPECT her to wear purple clothes, she shows up to the party in a yellow and black dress! The water was calm, the weather was beautiful, and the Warriors were on fire! We were the only team to come in under 2:30 for all 3 races! First race: 2:24 (fastest of the day out of all teams) Second race: 2:27, Third race: 2:29! No other team came in under 2:30 in the final heat, so we were doing well! So, at least it was a fun one! We dressed up as the Women in Black and all looked impeccable, if I do say so myself! Well, we ARE well rounded..lol Can't wait to see what Nanaimo has in store for us!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13787235836099208770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13792245.post-65448867792034189762007-03-04T20:50:00.000-08:002007-03-04T20:54:29.037-08:00Mirror of the Paddle<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlFLiB_IN42RgHZ1E4dYuAmjNr1F6hLx6u6x-t4EIAVdKOe7oeSJQ3eG2f3O354FR1SAeSPUKExKkUaZkjKdsAcFOudtD-m7C_nwI4IuB3bd4lXozdTv1Sun3nS2kd-JisAie5Lg/s1600-h/Paddle+008.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5038298668129155906" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlFLiB_IN42RgHZ1E4dYuAmjNr1F6hLx6u6x-t4EIAVdKOe7oeSJQ3eG2f3O354FR1SAeSPUKExKkUaZkjKdsAcFOudtD-m7C_nwI4IuB3bd4lXozdTv1Sun3nS2kd-JisAie5Lg/s400/Paddle+008.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Flat water..no waves, no ripples..just glass. How often do you practice?</span><br />We practice once a week from March 10th until April 14th.<br />We practice twice a week from April 14th to mid-September.<br />The season ends with the Kelowna regatta: Sept. 15,16.<br />We practice at Cultus Lake.<br /><br />We lease a boat from <a href="http://www.spiritabreast.com/">Spirit Abreast</a> (a breast cancer survivor team). They will be practicing Monday evenings (6:30-8:30pm) and alternating Thursday evenings (6:30-8:30pm) / Saturday mornings (8:30 - 10:30 am).<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Practice Times: Pre-Daylight Savings</span>:<br />Before daylight savings time, we will be practicing on Saturday mornings at 10:30am - 12pm, once per week.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Practice Times: Post-Daylight Savings:</span><br />After daylight savings time, we can practice in the evenings. We practice twice per week.<br />We have yet to determine which times/days we will practice.<br /><br />The team has been giving their input now that we know which times Spirit Abreast will practice. It seems like Tuesday evening (6:30pm - 8:30pm) will be an agreed upon choice. The second practice has yet to be determined, although it could be: Friday evenings, Sunday evenings or some alternating like we did last year (Sat. morning/Thursday evening). There is also a possibility that we could practice on Saturday mornings.<br /><br />Practice times will be decided on March 3rd at our Team Meeting. If you are thinking of joining and want a voice in the practice times, please email Krista Petrie, kryssee@hotmail.com with your preferences.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">2. When do you compete?</span><br />Last year, we competed in 5 regattas and festivals. Two of them were "away" for the night - Nanaimo and Kelowna. The other 3 were day regattas in the Lower Mainland (Cultus, Harrison, False Creek). The thrill of practice together is to see our team blend in sync to win!<br /><br />In 2007, we are considering the following regattas:<br />1. False Creek Women's: May 26<br />2. Either Nanaimo (July 6-8) or Whistler (June 30 - July 1)<br />3. Harrison (July 21)<br />4. Cultus Lake (August 11<span class="on" style="display: block;" id="formatbar_CreateLink" title="Link" onmouseover="ButtonHoverOn(this);" onmouseout="ButtonHoverOff(this);" onmouseup="" onmousedown="CheckFormatting(event);FormatbarButton('richeditorframe', this, 8);ButtonMouseDown(this);"></span>5. Kelowna (September 15,16)<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">3. Do you win?</span><br />Yes, we win! You can see from the photos in this blog that we received medals in 4/5 regattas in 2006. We are the defending champions at the Harrison regatta. We also won the gold at the Cultus Lake women's regatta. We won bronze at Kelowna - out of 47 women's teams!<br /><a href="http://waterwarriors.blogspot.com/2006/08/another-first-place-finish.html">Cultus Lake: Gold Medal</a><br /><a href="http://waterwarriors.blogspot.com/2006/09/finishing-season-strong.html">Kelowna: Bronze Medal</a><br /><a href="http://waterwarriors.blogspot.com/2006/07/harrison-gold.html">Harrison Gold! Defending Champions!</a><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">4. How much does it cost?</span><br />Equipment:<br />PFD (personal flotation device). A PFD that is meant for paddling (not much padding around the shoulder area) can be purchased for $65 - $150 at either Western Canoe and Kayak or Mountain Equipment Co-op. Most of us started with any PFD and eventually bought one that fits and works for us.<br /><br />Paddle: A dragonboat paddle costs about $35.<br /><br />Gloves: This is a personal preference - you may want to ask women on the team about the gloves that they wear and why they like them. Some women don't wear gloves. Paddling gloves are available at Mountain Equipment Co-op (online or in the store) for $16.<br /><br />Fees:<br />Each member of the team pays $100 at the start of the season to cover the initial cost of boat rental and insurance. After that, we pay $25 per month to cover the regattas and coaching costs for the season.<br /><br />Regattas / Festivals:<br />Our team participates in fundraisers to ensure that we can go to each regatta / festival if the costs are over and above the monthly fees collected and to have money in the bank at the end of the season to cover the next season's initial costs.<br /><br />Each member of the team covers the cost of their own transportation, food and accommodations on the "away" festivals. This is generally about $200 / festival. The team likes to drive together, stay in hotels together and enjoy some dinners together over the course of the weekend (Friday - Sunday).<br /><br />If you have any further questions about joining the WaterWarriors dragonboat team, be sure to <a href="http://www.reluctantdecorator.com/WWHandbook2006.pdf">download the 2006 Handbook</a>. There will be changes for 2007, but much of the material is still pertinent.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13787235836099208770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13792245.post-91979500904226258352007-01-01T08:11:00.000-08:002007-02-17T12:22:51.206-08:00Practice Days: Your Input<span style="font-weight: bold;">We would like your input in deciding our practice schedule. Please fill out the form (below) by February 21st to have your preferences considered.</span><br /><br />Our team gets second choice for practice times for the Spirit Abreast boat. Spirit Abreast has chosen Monday evenings and alternating Thursday evenings / Saturday mornings (8:30am). The executive has put together five options for practice times for the 2007 season, recognizing that Monday evenings and every other Thursday evening is booked by Spirit Abreast.<br /><br />At our team meeting on January 25, 2007, there were comments made by team members that it would be preferable to not practice on Saturdays for a variety of reasons - among them were: low attendance on Saturday practices, holidays and work schedules. In light of this, we have created options that don't rely on a Saturday practice time. <br /><br />It is also important to note that Shelly will be attending one practice per week and she is not able to make Wednesday evening practices.<br /><br />Please consider the following options and fill out the form (below) by February 21st with your practice time preference.<br /><br />We would also like to know which practice time you will be able to be most consistent in your attendance. Our hope is that we can count on 18 in the boat at least once a week for a more intense practice. The minimum in the boat for a practice is 14, but we can't practice race pieces with ony 14 in the boat. We want to pass this information on to Shelly so that she can plan our practices accordingly.<br /><br />Your comments will be considered carefully as we plan our practice times.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />WaterWarriors Executive<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Please fill out the form (below) to send your preferences to the Executive.
