WE ARE BACK ON THE WATER!!
Our regular season begins April 2, 2022!
Our regular season begins as of April 2nd! Our Saturday start time will change to 8:30am at lake and 8:45am on water. We are also expanding to weeknight practices as well: Tues/Thursdays 6:00 pm meet for a 6:15 start. Those weeknight paddle times will change as soon as we have more light
in the evening but, for the month of April, that will be our schedule. Team members are not required to be at every practice but know that you make the
most improvements the more regularly you are on the water. It is
very important that you register for your seat in the boat for each
practice you hope to attend. We use an on-line tool called Doodle. The doodle is being used to prepare the right amount of steers people
and boats. If you want to invite a guest you can add your name with the
word (guest) behind it. Guests will need to fill out a waiver as you all have done. The Doodle link is here: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/rb2KR7vd
As
you may know brand new paddlers have 3 free paddles in the boat to see
if this is sport a fit for you. After that you will need to decide if
you want to continue. The club membership is $150.00 in the form of a cheque (made out to Sudden Impact Paddling Club) or an e-transfer. We can give you more info about that...just ask! You will also need to complete a membership form
(for insurance purposes). There may be team fees
assessed (generally to cover the cost of coaching) at a later date but
until we know the number of new and returning paddlers we don't know
what our teams will be. It is most likely that we will at least have a
women's team and a mixed team. Stay tuned for more info about that.
Our club has an arrangement with the Cultus Lake Park Board to purchase a 6 month parking pass for$50.00
that gets us parking in several of the lots before 10 am on Saturdays
and after 6 pm on weekdays. If you have paid to park in the last 2
weeks, you know that $50.00 is a steal! In order to get a pass, our
club will be submitting a list of names to the Park Board. Then you
will phone in and give them your license plate and credit card info. It
is $50.00 per card so if you plan to drive more than 1 car to the lake,
your cost will be double. Let us know if you want to be on that list!
Finally, most of the costs for regattas that teams decide to compete in are covered by parking fundraisers
we do in conjunction with Heritage Park. We do them early in the
season before our paddling season gets too full with, well, paddling
fun! Our last fundraiser is the weekend of April 29, 30 and May 1st. New paddlers are encouraged to take part in this. A schedule will be
put out to the club and you get to decide which shift or shifts
(generally 3 hours long) you can do. These are easy, a great source of
income for us and a fun way to get to know your club mates off the
water!
We
are looking forward to building our club even better after Covid left
us high and dry. There is a seat in the boat just for you here and we look forward to working together to accomplish great things this year
and having a blast doing it! If you have questions, please don't
hesitate to ask!
PADDLES UP!
